 This position is expected to be a field assignment. The location of the assignment can vary depending on the job and/or client. We do offer per diem for those that qualify.

 

Significant growth in Sargent & Lundy’s (S&L) business over the past few years has driven the need to increase focus and investment in S&L’s Construction Management team. This team works closely with our external clients to handle every detail of their needs, as well as with our internal teams to make the projects run as seamlessly as possible.

 

The primary responsibility is to provide Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) and Distributed Control System (DCS) related construction and commissioning management guidance and support to Client management during the construction, commissioning, and initial operation of power projects.

Review instrument/component calibrations, perform functional testing of plant process systems, perform I/O loop checks, and have a detailed understanding of power plant process control philosophiesPerform general and technical consulting for I&C, electrical technicians, and construction personnel.Assisted in facilitating client–owner/regulator communications.Coordinate issues between engineering and construction, as required, to support project activitiesReview and advise on corrective action issues, including engineering, construction, and commissioning deficienciesPrepare detailed startup plans required for functional testing of process systemsPrepare system turnover packages in accordance with project procedures, including reviewing system testing documentationPerform initial configuration and energization of control system equipment, including hardware, software, network establishment, datalink configuration, etc.Detailed understanding and ability to perform logic verification and testing, graphic verification, alarm verification and management, and process control tuningDetailed understanding of power plant network architecture and power plant control systems including Emerson Ovation, Siemens T3000, ABB 800xA, Allen Bradley Control Logix, and MHI/GE/Siemens/Alstom turbine control systems Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

Experience setting up, commissioning, and operating various DCS systems.Ability and willingness to work at a project site location, domestically or internationally.Success working with multi-cultural and multi-disciplined teams.Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.10 or more years applicable experience, including combined cycle (gas turbine), coal and/or nuclear power plant construction, commissioning and initial power plant operation. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated Client relationship-building experience.Positive attitude and personality; ability to build positive relationships.
