If you’re hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there’s only one choice.** **INSTRUMENTATION MAINTENANCE MECHANIC** **INSTRUMENTATION MAINTENANCE MECHANIC CBYB-SR – BERKELEY, CA** **PURPOSE** Responsible for maintenance and repair of instrumentation equipment, performing in-line conductivity, flow, PH, pressure, temperature testing, documenting findings for all maintenance, repairs, or testing, and reporting any discrepancies found. Perform daily tasks following the, and operating policies and procedures. **YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** The primary responsibilities of this role are to: + Perform scheduled predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, and project support of instrumentation equipment; + Responsible for performing daily maintenance work schedule attainment, data recording, and reporting of work orders; + Responsible for assessing the accuracy of instrumentation procedures and providing feedback to the document owner; + Perform calibrations on various instrumentation; + Perform all work in accordance with NFPA 70E requirements; + Support and comply with Bayer Berkeley's commitment to health, safety, and environmental protection initiatives and programs. Take part in safety meetings as required, and advises relevant personnel (e.g. supervisor, etc.) of any non-conforming conditions; + Communication with all departments to schedule and follow-up on activities; + Perform pre-task plan and JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis); + Provide support to Project Management group installations and inquiries for expertise; + Oversee the proper operation and perform repairs and replacement of all instrumentation equipment as needed; + Perform calibrations as needed for repair activities; + Interface with maintenance scheduler and provide instrumentation craft support for troubleshooting and repairs of equipment; + Review all completed work orders and verifying completion of work, reporting discrepancies, verifying work order history is complete, and closing out a work order; + Provide technical and/or manpower support to the site to ensure equipment reliability; + Perform preventative maintenance on electrical components associated with instrumentation equipment. + Perform problem-solving on specific instrumentation issues related to the air handlers, control panels, freezer, cold room, exhaust fans, hot & cold-water systems, and condensate pumps; + Check de-energized electrical components IAW NFPA 70E requirements. Perform troubleshooting IAW NFPA 70E requirements; + Experienced using multi-meters for checking AC/DC voltages, amperage meters on AC/DC circuits, meggaring of AC/DC motors; + Be able to assist with the following "all craft" maintenance tasks: + Change valve diaphragms (non-feedback valves); + Support functional checks and calibration readings; + The mechanical portion of control valves (diaphragm and bonnet); + Support HVAC/R: 1) Filter changes, and 2) Taking reading for Magnehelic gauges and read a/h air flows and filter d/p’s off of control panels; + Rigging (<=500 lbs.); + Safety monitoring for PM’s/CAL’s (example: door watch for freezer work); + Replace Sanitary piping gaskets for non-calibrations; + Investigate and report/repair issues (leaks, alarms, etc.); + Other related duties as assigned. **WHO YOU ARE** Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Requires high school diploma, or GED plus minimum of three (3) years of instrumentation maintenance experience, or Completion of technical school / accredited 2-year program or applicable military experience AND a minimum of two (2) years of field experience; + Experience and competency with instrumentation systems and controls, including both electrical and pneumatic; + Technical working knowledge of PCS (Process Control System) and Electrical utilities; + Ability to read/interpret blueprints and diagrams; + Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift, scissor-lift, JLG; + General knowledge of shop tools and safe operation; + Read, write, speak, and comprehend English in order to understand written and verbal instructions, SOP’s, etc.; + Follow directions, written or verbal; + Acceptable attendance and performance; + Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required (including 10-hour shifts as needed); + Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team; + Work independently and self-directed with minimal supervision; + Detail-oriented with the ability to demonstrate good record-keeping practices; + Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within prescribed limitations; + Computer skills required, use of laptop, tablet, HMI, PLC required, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, MODA; + Must be able to lift up to <=75 lbs. and push/pull up to <=650 lbs. with assistance; + Must be able to withstand frequent repetitive movement, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing (ladders), and sitting; + Must be able to wear protective clothing (PPE) as required; + Must be able to work at heights, around moving machinery, and with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and drafts; + Must be able to identify color-coded labels; + Must be able to pass an eye exam includes testing for near vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; + Must meet Occupational Demands/Physical Requirement checklist; + Hepatitis B vaccine recommended. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Proficient knowledge of other trades (Instrumentation, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC/R) strongly preferred; + SAP experience is strongly preferred. Employees can expect to be paid an hourly wage is $47.24. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
