VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Instrumentation Technician to join the versatile Mineral Resource Management Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the instrumentation supervisor, you will be responsible for management of dewatering boreholes, piezometers, and other hydrological & Geotechnical infrastructure on the Mine. He / she is also responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all Hydrogeology & Geotechnical electrical / instrumentation infrastructure.  Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: 

Carry out all work in compliance to relevant procedures and Zambian regulatory requirements, Install and repair borehole pumps and other equipment including replacing motors, control panels, sensors and other parts as needed. Ensure all equipment is serviced and calibrated (Radars, Total stations, VWPs, and prisms) as per requirements. This will include, among other things, Slope Monitoring Radars, Robotic Total Stations, Blast vibrations, monitoring tools and borehole flow meters. Ensure both the Radar and the Prism monitoring instrumentations are kept clean and inspected regularly.  Ensure Servicing and maintenance of all dewatering borehole pumps for optimum dewatering performance Ensure the data loggers on all vibrating wire piezometers are maintained and in good condition. Set up and provide support for operating various geotechnical & slope monitoring instruments following Lumwana mine procedures in a safe and productive manner. Provide timely assistance to instrumentation Coordinator, Supervisor and Technicians as required. Perform inspections and testing of electrical equipment prior to and during energization & perform electrical LV, switching when required Communicate and coordinate with different discipline teams to ensure efficient use of resources to maximize productive work Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Instrumentation supervisor.

Carry out preventive maintenance on all electrical & Instrumentation components.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Full Grade Twelve School Certificate Advanced Certificate in Process Instrumentation Diploma in Instrumentation/Electrical/Electronic Engineering will be an added advantage. Minimum two (2) years’ working experience. Experience Slope monitoring radars and Borehole pumps Holder of a valid Zambian Drivers Licence Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination. Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent. Member of The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ & ERB) Good communication skills, self-motivated and innovative
