Insurance Analyst Job ID: 250128 Location: MD-Metro Bldg New Carrollton Full/Part Time: Full-Time Posting Open-Close 02/12/2025 - 02/27/2025 Union 002 Regular/Temporary: Regular **Job Description** **Minimum Qualifications** **Education** + Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management Studies, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Insurance Financial Management, or a related field of study. **Experience** + Minimum five (5) years of experience in Risk Management related to property, liability, and financial/professional insurance, providing transportation services, operations of the insurance industry including regulation, broking, underwriting and claims administration. Includes insurance regulations, insurance brokerages, insurance company licensing and taxes. **Certification/Licensure** + Possession of or be in the process of obtaining professional Risk Management designations such as the Associate in Insurance (AIC), or Associate in Risk Management (ARM). **Medical Group** Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of this position either with or without reasonable accommodations. **Summary** The Insurance Analyst is the Subject Matter Expert and possesses the required education, training, and work experience of difficulty and complexed nature to primarily perform maintenance of insurance policies and conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis as delegated by the Insurance Director. Responsibilities include collecting information and documentation for underwriting and annual renewals processing, responds to requests for insurance requirements in contracts, payment of invoices, and ensures approvals and effectuation of policies, manages the Railroad Protective Insurance Program. The position stays updated on regulatory compliance requirements when managing contracts and knowledge of new trends in innovation. Optimizes the experiences of employees and customers demonstrates and promotes a sense of belonging and value to the organization and improves interactions. **Job Duties** + Processes and completes the annual renewal applications insurance policies, gathers and organizes support documentation, examines for completeness, and presents the completed applications to the Insurance Manager and Director of RISK for review and approval. + Works closely with the Insurance Broker Account Managers on all day-to-day administrative tasks, which includes servicing and fielding questions from the Insurers. + Assists the Director of Risk with the overseeing of the program coordination with WMATA Management regarding loss control and risk management activities and issues; develops strategies to optimize WMATA's insurance coverage; and ensures all programs comply with mandated requirements. + Serves as a liaison for the Insurance Department with other divisions, departments, and outside vendors and agencies; negotiates and resolves any identified issues. + Transmits completed application packages to the Director of Risk to obtain any required signatures needed. + Reviews renewal policy binders and identifies discrepancies in policy information. Escalates flagged discrepancies and notifies the Director RISK. Informs of renewal offers. Transmits signed/approved insurance policy renewal application packages to brokerage for submission to the commercial insurance markets. + Reviews the scope of work in various contracts and real estate license agreements and crafts the insurance requirements. + Participates in Procurement pre-bid Conferences to discuss WMATA's insurance requirements. Reviews insurance certificates and endorsements submitted by outside contractors to determine that the insurance complies with the contractual insurance requirements. + Participates in policy renewal meetings with the Director RISK, brokerages, and commercial insurance markets on assigned lines of insurance. + Supports Director RISK by performing evaluations of the various renewal proposals to the Treasurer on acceptance. + Manages the Railroad Protective Insurance Program. + Processes payments for insurance premiums and risk management consultant including the preparation of purchase requisitions in PeopleSoft, and initiation of MEADs (Metro Electronic Action Documents). + Maintains file folders, binders, and policies of the lines of insurance including archiving insurance files with expirations dates more than five years. + Promotes a community of practice and excellence to improve employee experiences.
