A career in the Insurance Claims Services practice within Deals will provide you with a unique blend of challenges and opportunities. In this role, you will work across various industries to quantify insurable losses for clients, with a blend of both personal injury and commercial loss claims. You’ll handle a variety of responsibilities, including client communications, document collection, research and investigations, and the preparation of data analysis and reports. Additionally, you will contribute to our training and business development efforts, showcasing your ability to drive growth and efficiency within our practice.We are looking for professionals who have completed their CPA designation, with a solid understanding of accounting concepts and prior experience with economic loss quantification. The ideal candidate will have an investigative mindset, a keen interest in applying regulatory rules and case law, and strong skills in communication, organization, and time management.
Meaningful work you’ll be part of
As a member of our Insurance Claims Services team, you will be joining a group of insurance industry leaders who offer strategic assistance to many of Canada’s top insurance companies as well as to policyholders to help them effectively resolve claims. You will help deliver cost-effective solutions to clients faced with claims ranging in size from simple, local files to complex, multi-million-dollar claims. Our team specializes in the quantification of accident benefits, bodily injury and commercial insurance claims. We tailor our services to meet the unique needs of our clients, and offer a range of products to accomplish this. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Consult with clients, counsel and representatives of insurance companies and policyholders
Play a leading role in business development activities and developing and presenting educational seminars
Provide hands-on leadership on client engagements and project delivery, and provide strategic guidance and oversight to the team including:
Review and/or prepare detailed analysis of accounting records and other personal and corporate financial information
Present analysis and research using Microsoft Suite and the Internet
Prepare/review and present loss quantification and/or loss review (critique) reports to lawyers (both plaintiff and defense counsel), company executives, and/or insurance adjusters/claims managers
Manage and mentor Associates and Senior Associates on the team
Role model use of emerging technology and automation tools
Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve:
Previous experience in quantification and review of economic losses due to personal injury and commercial claims (such as business interruption, stock or inventory loss) is required
Proven ability and success in business development, and market presence
Experience with team management, including coaching and mentoring junior staff on engagement deliverables
Strong working knowledge of Forensic Accounting and solid understanding of accounting concepts
Completion of a finance or accounting related Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma along with CPA designation is required
Ability to manage engagement economics and risk
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client deliverables, presentations, papers and articles
Experience with leading-edge technologies
Ability to offer strategic advisory to insurance companies and/or policyholders to effectively resolve claims
Fluency in French is an asset and full business proficiency in English is required
A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences, developing and coaching diverse teams, and ensuring diverse perspectives are heard
