Be Here. Be Great. Working for a leader in the insurance industry means opportunity for you. Great American Insurance Group's member companies are subsidiaries of American Financial Group. We combine a "small company" culture where your ideas will be heard with "big company" expertise to help you succeed. With over 30 specialty and property and casualty operations, there are always opportunities here to learn and grow.
At Great American, we value diversity and recognize the benefits gained when people from different cultures, backgrounds and experiences work collaboratively to achieve business results. We are intentionally focused on fostering an inclusive culture and know valuing diversity is an essential leadership quality. Our goal is to create a workplace where all employees feel included, empowered and enabled to perform at their best.
Great American has created a unique and robust summer legal internship program that provides a student with a multi-dimensional opportunity beyond the walls of a singular law firm. The purpose of this program is to develop a foundational understanding of law and approach that can only be obtained with a Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance carrier.
A traditional summer legal internship allows you a partial view of how one case is litigated. With Great American, a selected legal intern will be provided a more well-rounded experience through the lens of an insurance carrier. The selected intern will review policyholder communications, learn how to interpret and apply policy language and critical review of legal briefs and case evaluations drafted by insurance defense firms. They will gain valuable insight and understanding as it relates to the complete life cycle of a claim of significant exposure. They will begin to develop a balance in applying both art and skill with respect to litigation avoidance, management and resolution. The business of insurance requires the best result through best practice.
Upon completion of the program, the intern will have developed a keen sense for partner collaboration, critical thinking, as well as clear and concise communication. They will have established a compelling argument that they are ready for a successful legal career within the insurance industry.
We are accepting resumes for the Great American Legal Internship candidates with employment starting in May/June of 2025.
