AkzoNobel seeks an experienced and proactive Insurance Manager to join our in-house Insurance Department (AIS). This team is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining global insurance programs that protect AkzoNobel’s assets, operations, and balance sheet.


The Insurance Manager plays a critical role in shaping risk financing strategies, managing global insurance programs (GIP), and satisfying the insurance needs of the AkzoNobel business. This position reports to the Insurance Director and collaborates across multiple corporate functions and external partners. The insurance manager is part of a small international team with multiple Insurance Specialists. To support its objectives the department has access to >35 insurers, multiple external brokers, one Inhouse broker and one internal Insurance company (Captive). 

Responsibilities: Design and implement global risk financing strategies to safeguard AkzoNobel's balance sheet. Manage global insurance programs, including renewals, policy structures, and terms. Build and maintain relationships with underwriters, brokers, and other external stakeholders. Support M&A activities and ensure alignment with insurance strategies. Develop, support and expand GIP knowledge in the insurance hubs in Brazil, China, and the US plus provides support to the local insurances in these regions Manage contracts and service-level agreements with third-party providers. Serve as a trusted advisor to AkzoNobel’s business units on insurance matters. What do you need to have to be successful in this role? Master’s degree in legal, economic, or business administration. 5–7 years of experience in the international insurance market (at a customer, broker, or insurance company). Qualified licensed insurance professional (WFT Wet Financieel Toezicht). Fluency in English and Dutch (both written and verbal). Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to operate effectively in an international environment
