The successful candidate will be an experienced insurance regulatory attorney supporting the organization in handling a broad range of property and casualty insurance matters.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Conducting research regarding legal and compliance issues affecting the business, and translating complex laws and regulations into practical advice and solutions;
Advising business on legal issues and risks, company policies, and business strategy;
Supporting the organization in handling a broad range of insurance matters, including compliance with state insurance regulations, holding company acts, and market conduct and financial exams;
Reviewing, negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts in support of insurance operations;
Managing and reviewing legal advice provided by outside counsel; and
Building strong relationships with internal business partners and working as part of cross-functional teams across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications & Skills
This position requires an accomplished attorney with a distinguished professional record. Personal and professional “fit” is of paramount importance to Company.
Education:
J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited national law school; and
Admission in good standing to a state bar association; membership in the Massachusetts state bar preferred.
Experience:
4-7 years of law firm or in-house experience with a focus on property and casualty insurance matters; and
Familiarity with Northeast U.S. insurance markets (preferred); experience in Massachusetts preferred.
