Oversees the insurance accounts receivable team and perform the job duties of fellow teammates as needed
Maintains positive leadership and gives frequent performance feedback, and encourages two-way participation and ideas
Participates in the hiring process and review process for team members
Reviews and approves requests from the insurance team for adjustments and refunds
Ensures the team resubmits insurance claims that have received no response or are not on file
Monitors and manages the productivity and performance of assigned employees including reporting daily/weekly/monthly department metrics to Senior Management
Ensures the team follows-up with insurance companies and confirms claims are paid/processed
Produces productivity and error reports for the department manager
Oversees that the team reviews and appeals unpaid and denied claims
Performs monthly billing audits to ensure timely and accurate claims submission and insurance follow up activities
Monitor and manage key performance indicators and data for department, and provide reporting and action plans for improvement
Supervises the team to ensure maintenance of an error rate in accordance with departmental policy
Performs additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
5 years medical billing experience
Strong background and experience in Revenue Cycle Management
Ophthalmology background desired
2+ years in a leadership role preferred
Active knowledge of CMS guidelines contracted insurance guidelines and coding policies
Ability to lead a team by demonstrating a positive attitude, openness to change, willingness to help, and respect for others and their ideas
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
Demonstrated computer literacy and excellent math skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
