Insurance Technical Specialist

What can you expect?

Insurance Technical Specialists develop, support and sell Mercer’s market-leading suite of investment tools, serving the clients who subscribe to these data and software services and the consultants who rely on the intellectual capital to provide strategic investment advice.  This role is a recognized subject matter expert and a senior individual contributor who manages large-scale projects, coaches team members and solves complex problems.

As an Insurance Technical Specialist, you will partner with our regional consulting and sales leaders to grow our business in Asia (including Japan), working with an entrepreneurial team and building on our strong global brand recognition.Our platform has developed a wide range of solutions for insurance companies across the size and complexity spectrum, including large, publicly traded insurers down to newly capitalized companies, providing a unique set of engagement optionsThis position will be responsible for driving growth of a key strategic segment for Mercer and Marsh McClennan more broadly

What you need to have:

The role requires the ability to support consultants and regional sales leaders to close deals with insurance companies via deep and targeted insurance knowledge along with the ability to deliver customized insurance solutions utilising the full breadth of Mercer’s capabilities:

Solid commercial acumen, with prior success in growing assets under management via the insurance industry.Extensive understanding of the asset management industry, trends, as well as products, solutions and services for the insurance segment.A deep understanding of the Asian markets and ideally international insurance markets and possible background from within the insurance industry itself.The candidate should be familiar with regional regulatory requirements and Solvency II standards.A strong understanding of the specific investment requirements and reporting requirements of insurance clients is important.An insurance specific background and/ or years of insurance specific working experience in providing insurance clients with asset management solutions would be ideal.Successfully deliver complex investment solution and products to insurance companies.Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, a team player who naturally maintains solid working relationships with colleagues and other relevant stakeholders.  The ability to adapt to different audiences.Exceptional communication skills and people leadership qualities including the ability to work collaboratively as part of a leadership team.  Strong English skills.  Cantonese/ Mandarin or another Asian language preferred.A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics or other business-related areas. CFA/ MBA/ Master’s degree and/ or actuarial qualifications preferred.
