Job Summary

The Intake Specialist (IS) will be responsible for managing patients initiating services with University Psychiatry Associates.  This will include gathering intake information (clinical, demographic and insurance/payment) from patients and referral sources, such as other Avera clinics/departments.  They will be skilled at identifying patients in need of more urgent intervention and hand these off to the Clinical Triage Counselor for more in-depth evaluation.  The IS will maintain knowledge of community resources and other support services and coordinate with the Behavioral Health Assessment Team.  It will be the responsibility of the IS to maintain close working relationships with UPA providers in order to match patients with the most appropriate providers. The IS must also be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all UPA providers, support staff and nursing while working in an often hectic, fast-paced and complex clinic environment.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree; or two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. BS/BA in psychology, social work or related field is preferred. Two years’ experience in the mental health field is preferred.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; 80hrs/2wks

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$18.25 - $23.00 per hour
