This program is responsible for statewide prevention efforts primarily in the areas of suicide, sexual assault, and domestic violence. The Intentional Injury Prevention Specialist assists the Program Manager by coordinating the management, implementation, and monitoring of grants and contracts, as well as assisting the Department and outside stakeholders in developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention efforts across Wyoming. These efforts further the Department's goal of reducing morbidity and mortality associated with intentional injury. Human Resource Contact: wdhrecruit@wyo.gov ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level. + Serve as the primary point of contact for all local or state stakeholders in suicide prevention. + Direct and manage priorities and activities within the Wyoming Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan. + Develop and/or enhance statewide suicide prevention activities, such as postvention response, healthcare-facility suicide prevention initiatives, and suicide death review. + Organize, manage, and facilitate the Wyoming Alliance for Suicide Prevention (WASP). + Assist in the planning of the annual Wyoming Suicide Symposium. + Serve as a Region Lead for recipients of the Community Prevention Grant. + Collaborate on and guide other intentional injury prevention activities, including sexual assault and domestic violence prevention. + Develop and/or enhance statewide intentional injury programs through coordination with stakeholders for disparate populations and with organizations serving those populations. + Participate in organizational activities that facilitate internal coordination of efforts, interagency collaboration, and stakeholder partnerships, including working with other members of the Community Prevention Unit to integrate injury prevention with other prevention activities. + Assist with grant writing and implementation and oversight of grant activities. + Oversee and direct contractors and stakeholders concerning intentional injury prevention. + Develop professional presentations for professional audiences at state, regional, and national meetings and conferences. Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to a Bachelor's degree in business administration, education, psychology/social science or services, public health, public administration, or related field with 1-3 years of progressive work experience managing a health services program. A Master’s level degree or higher may be substituted for experience. KNOWLEDGE: + Knowledge of intentional injury prevention strategies, specifically those that are evidence-based. + Knowledge of public health prevention and healthcare services, including the application of the public health model, the design and implementation of evidence-based programs and best practices for injury prevention, and the use of epidemiological data as applied to injury prevention and policy development. + Knowledge of how to build and maintain partnerships among diverse coalitions and stakeholder groups at the state and community level. + Knowledge of public health core competencies. + Skill in developing and implementing strategies for achieving environmental change at a systems level. + Skill in technical writing as applied to various media, including the preparation of grant applications, reports, and promotional, educational, and informational materials for a wide range of audiences.
