Summary About the Position: This position is the Chief, Plant Section with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Operations Division located in Memphis, TN. Responsible for the care and security of floating and land plant structures at the Ensley Engineer Yard; providing material handling and labor pool services for activities on the yard and for providing support in the shops to chiefs of fields units in making plant repairs. Responsibilities Directs marine and/or land based equipment maintenance projects. Determines manpower requirements needed for project efficiency. Monitors funds to ensure a project stays within its budget and on schedule. Conducts inspection of floating string out fleet, all structures, land equipment and/or service facilities. Coordinates operations and maintenance items with leadership of the district and division offices. Provides current information for use in the revision and updating of mechanical engineering criteria. Basic Education Requirement for Engineering 0810, 0830, 0850 Series: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0800/files/all-professional-engineering-positions-0800.pdf Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes; Assists in development and defense of Civil Works budget; Disseminates and/or coordinates implementation of planning, program, project and/or budgetary guidance and assists in the development of recommendations for policy objectives related to water resource studies and/or projects. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Leadership Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). In addition, supervisors are responsible, when requested, for assisting agency ethics officials in evaluating potential conflicts of interest and identifying positions subject to financial disclosure requirements.
