Summary About the Position: This position is responsible for performing and/or directing field engineering functions, dedicated to Chief Joseph Dam and projects in the vicinity of Chief Joseph, exercising wide-scope monitoring, inspection, control of civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental components of Civil, Military and HTRW construction projects. Responsibilities Act as Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Recommend approval for design changes, or substitutions of equipment and materials. Coordinate work with the using agency and other elements of the District; resolve differences of opinions with contractors; ensure deadlines are met; spot checks work in progress; and make follow-up assignments. Responsible to safeguard personnel whose duties require them to work on or near any system that produces, uses, or stores hazardous energy and other risks (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, arc flash, kinetic/rotation, engulfment, etc.). Compile data and prepare a variety of correspondence and reports. Ensure strict adherence to safety provisions of the contract. Assist Resident Engineer, in interpreting intent of plans and specifications, conferring with contractor to resolve differences of opinion, and inspecting contractor workmanship and equipment/materials to ensure compliance with contract requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This is a Construction, Engineering, and Infrastructure Career Field position. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. Some of the occupational series of this Interdisciplinary position are covered by a Special Salary Rate (SSR). Special Salary Rate range for Occupational Series Civil (0810), Mechanical (0830) and Electrical (0850) Engineers: $103,470 to $126,186. Salary range for Occupational Series Landscape Architect (0807), Architect (0808) and Geologist (1350): $88,621 to $115,213.
