Job Summary:
The Interior Architect will play a key role in the design and execution of residential projects, from concept development to completion. Working closely with clients, architects, builders, and vendors, the Interior Architect will create cohesive, innovative, and functional interior spaces that align with project goals, budgets, and timelines. This role requires a blend of creative vision, technical expertise, and project management skills to ensure seamless integration of interior design within the broader architectural and construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
• Concept Development: Collaborate with clients and the design team to develop interior design concepts; create mood boards, sketches, and 3D renderings to communicate design intent.
• Space Planning: Design functional and aesthetically pleasing interior layouts, optimizing space utilization while adhering to building codes, accessibility standards, and client requirements.
• Material & Finish Selection: Specify and source high-quality materials, finishes, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) that align with design vision and budget.
• Technical Documentation: Produce detailed interior architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and millwork details, using CAD and BIM software. Ensure drawings are accurate and coordinated with architectural and structural plans.
• Project Coordination: Work closely with architects, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure design intent is maintained throughout the construction phase. Attend site visits to monitor progress and address design-related issues.
• Client Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, presenting design proposals, addressing feedback, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Budget & Timeline Management: Develop and manage interior design budgets, track expenditures, and ensure timely delivery of design deliverables and FF&E installations.
• Vendor & Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with vendors, artisans, and suppliers to source custom pieces and ensure timely procurement and quality control.
• Sustainability & Innovation: Incorporate sustainable design and emerging trends in residential interiors to create forward-thinking, environmentally responsible spaces.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 4-7 years of professional experience in interior architecture, preferably within a residential design-build or high-end residential firm.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and rendering software (e.g., Lumion, V-Ray).
• Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and construction methods.
• Design Skills: Strong portfolio showcasing residential interior projects with a focus on space planning, custom detailing, and material selection.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to articulate design concepts to clients and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and stay within budget constraints.
• Attributes: Creative, detail-oriented, and client-focused with a passion for residential design. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• NCIDQ certification or equivalent professional licensure, preferred
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles (e.g., LEED, WELL Building Standard).
