Interior Designer - Mid Level

Your Role

As a Gensler Interior Designer in our incredible Charlotte office, you are passionate about your craft and combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You have exceptional conceptual design skills, and a portfolio of innovative design solutions with an emphasis on workplace projects.

You will collaborate with talented colleagues to enhance Gensler’s culture for design excellence, elevate the quality of design, and achieve recognition for our clients and the firm. You are a mix of strategic and creative, with the ability to create great form while embracing sound business strategy. Use your unique design perspective to lead design teams, develop next-generation talent, bring new approaches to the design process, and help our clients redesign what’s possible.

What You Will Do

Work in a team environment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on varying project typesCollaborate on workplace interior design assignments that include programming, project strategy, client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, consultant coordination, construction documents, construction administration and management of budgets and schedules Coordinate with junior team members and Project Architects on delivery of project milestones Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, lighting, and furniture specifications  Produce graphic presentations including 3D renderings for client presentations Contribute to the production of plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections needed for construction Generate finish plans, specifications and material selections Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, contractors, fabricators and other vendors to meet overall project objectives Clearly communicate your design ideas to the project team Participate and contribute to office and firm culture Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationshipsChampion Gensler’s diversity and inclusion goals with respect to teammates, partners, and consultants

Your Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field from an accredited school5-8 years of diverse interiors experience with an emphasis on workplace designNCIDQ CertifiedExperience in working on all phases of the project from programming & test fits through design, documentation and constructionStrong knowledge of the design process, including FF&E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materialsFlexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of developmentLeadership, communication and relationship management skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Outstanding graphic presentation skills Revit skills are REQUIRED Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max preferred A commitment to the principles of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and sustainable design, and experience integrating them on specific projects
