Role description: Arcadis’ Ottawa office is searching for an intermediate Civil Engineer to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in site planning, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and permitting. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects efficiently while ensuring compliance with local regulations and client requirements.

Role accountabilities:
Design & Engineering:
Prepare detailed civil engineering designs for land development projects (subdivisions, site plans, roadways, utilities, stormwater systems, etc.). Conduct grading, earthwork calculations, and drainage analysis. Design water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater management systems. Use Civil 3D, or other engineering software to develop plans.Project Coordination:
Assist in managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Coordinate with clients, surveyors, architects, planners, other consultants and contractors. Review and approve construction drawings, reports, and technical documents.Permitting & Compliance:
Prepare and submit applications for municipal approvals, environmental permits, and zoning compliance. Ensure adherence to local, provincial, and federal regulations (e.g., stormwater management, erosion control).Client & Stakeholder Interaction:
Communicate with clients, agencies, and public stakeholders to address project requirements. Attend meetings with municipalities, councils, or public hearings as needed.Construction Support:
Provide engineering support during construction (RFI responses, site inspections, as-built reviews). Address design issues throughout the construction phase.Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license or eligibility for licensure preferred. 5-10 years of relevant experience in Land Development or Municipal engineering Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and hydraulic/hydrology modelling software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, OneNote, Outlook) Proficiency with Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat Familiarity with local land development standards (e.g., municipal standards and specifications, water, sewer and stormwater management guidelines). Familiarity with provincial standards and specifications. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take directionBenefits & Compensation:
