Intermediate Technician
Researches, compiles and examines a variety of data required by project manager and staff for project planning, applying simple algebraic or geometric formulas. Conducts a variety of standard tests on environmental media; e.g., PCBs by the chlor-in-oil method; examines test results and explains unusual finding. Applies specialized knowledge, skills or judgment to varying sequences of standard operations, e.g., water sample collection filtration and preservation. Records data requiring numerous calculations. Performs routine to moderate construction related activities, such as equipment assembly, involving environmentally related materials and processes. Determines compliance with plans and specifications; assists in inspecting results or specifications on more moderate to complex projects. Prepares computer data for technical programs; makes computer runs, as instructed by engineers/scientists. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and makes simple repairs. Demonstrates familiarity with computer software programs and operating systems.
