Job Description Summary: The CPS Academic Programs Team is accepting applications for a postgraduate, part-time internship. This unique opportunity is geared towards individuals with an interest in exploring a career in higher education, specifically in teaching pedagogy and student support services. This position will assist the Academic Programs Team.This position will help with the creation and planning of current and new programs for students and faculty. The successful candidate will employ the use of student development theories to guide their experience. This position will complete a semester-long project that aligns with the student’s interests and the needs of the College. Requirements: 60% ACADEMIC ADVISING AND STUDENT SUPPORT Meet with and advise assigned students and assist with course registration Prepare necessary documents for students (i.e., course registration form, degree completion plan, etc.) Assist with student concerns’ communications including discovery process and appropriate response styles. Utilize a holistic approach to academic advising

Oversee operation of the CPS Textbook Lending Library Manage database of Villanova equivalents for transfer creditsCreate preliminary transfer credit evaluations for newly admitted students based on official transcripts and transfer credit policies Audit and maintain online information and messaging for consistency and accuracy Student information hub in Blackboard Villanova website content Monitor advising email account, respond to emails, and triage messages as needed Assist Advising team with programming around Orientation, Commencement, and Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA) Assist in the planning and facilitation of student support event(s) and outreach initiatives – i.e., Non-Traditional Students, Transfer Students, First Generation Students’ Weeks throughout the year Prepare marketing content for CPS social media outlets. Assist with Personal Enrichment registration in the Fall and Spring semesters Assist Advising team in daily tasks and attend meetings when appropriate Send announcement emails (i.e., last day to add/drop, WX, etc.) from Blackboard and/or advisor email account Maintain tracking documents to ensure newly admitted students are receiving necessary onboarding information Undertake benchmarking research to ensure the team’s efforts and services are aligned with institutional goals, higher education trends, and academic advising scholarship Collaborate with teams in CPS and across the University to understand the collective nature of advising 25% PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION Attend monthly operations meetings and record meeting minutes Attend Go-NoGo meetings as needed to determine the viability of enrollments for a course to run. Gain a keen understanding of College and fiscal decision-making Assist with course data reporting on enrollment, grades, attrition and understanding the variety of ways the College uses the data Attend select Prof Ed course/program orientation(s) as a student services learning opportunity as needed
10% INDUSTRY/COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION Collaborate with teams in CPS and across the University to understand the collective nature of advising Work with Academic Programs team and campus partners, when applicable, on development and coordination of courses/events Participate in relevant professional development activities and/or associations Join NACADA and complete one eTutorial Complete Clifton Strengths assessment Represent the advising team and the CPS at various campus events sponsored by CPS and/or the University
5% ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties as assigned by Academic Programs team Participate in events with CPS on occasional nights and weekends Participate in College social events and team-building activities when appropriate Additional Information: Formal Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Currently in a master’s program, preferably counseling, higher education, or related field

Additional Information: Candidates must be able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities across the College’s programs. Candidate must have strong organizational, time management and relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to work as a team player. Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills are required. The candidate selected must also communicate professionally and efficiently within a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be proficient in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft office products, extremely proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. General knowledge of office principles and procedures is required. The individual must have a deep commitment to the College of Professional Studies, to the University’s Catholic/Augustinian heritage and the advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
