Translational Data Engineering & Solutions provides a comprehensive array of data services (ex. data storage, preprocessing analysis-ready data and visualization dashboarding) across therapeutic areas. We are looking for a Data Engineer who will, in collaboration with internal and external partners, support the operations of Janssen R&D Data Science and implement innovative solutions for handling large and sophisticated molecular and clinical datasets across Janssen’s therapeutic areas. The candidate would ideally be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong technical and communication skills, ability to work independently and in teams, and a passion for learning. You will be responsible for: In this role, you will + Design and implement platform components that are well-defined, modularized, secure, reliable, reusable, diagnosable, and actively monitored. + Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and database technologies + Perform programming tasks to support in-house data tools, platforms, pipelines, and workflows. + Produce clean, efficient, and well-documented code based on specifications **Qualifications** Qualifications / Requirements: ·Be currently pursuing a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, engineering, or related degrees + Possess a strong understanding of Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or related field as demonstrated by current or prior coursework + Possess strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills (technical and/or business) + Proficiency in Python or R programming language. + Can work individually (independently) as well as on a team. + Be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks. + Candidates must be available to work full-time during the internship. + Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1-B status) now or in the future. Preferred: + Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, and database schema/structure design. + Coursework or background in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, and other life sciences + A working knowledge of web application design and programming + Experience with relevant disease biology in cancer, immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular, or infectious disease + A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
