What You Can Expect
ENGIE Distributed Solar & Storage (an ENGIE North America company) is looking for an Electrical Engineering intern to join our Engineering and Delivery team.
As the Electrical Engineering intern (CEI) in Chicago, you support the Electrical team in preparing, designing, and finalizing design layouts and production modeling of ground mount solar PV installations throughout the USA. You will collaborate with various departments on requests to develop, design, and optimize the projects. As a CEI, you will be exposed to many of these responsibilities, working closely with the Electrical Engineer whom you will support.
Originate and review rooftop, ground mount and carport PV layouts Maintain drafting processes and support continuous improvement of drawing standards across Engineering team Support development and origination team in Request for Proposal (RFP) engineering work Support site assessment and point of interconnection for design development Apply building and fire codes, national electric code, and utility interconnection requirements to designs in a wide range of jurisdictions Draft single line diagrams, electrical facility layouts and details for assigned projects as directed by team leader Must be comfortable reading and interpreting technical documentation Check calculations, dimensions, and feasibility of designs and work with team to resolve conflicts Carry out other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
In progress of a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Experience using AutoCad Experience within the renewable energy industry; specifically, photovoltaic solar arrays Experience with land development projects and/or design Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Employ Time Management skills Ability to lead and adapt in a demanding, ever-changing environment Ability to work with a collaborative approach to getting the work done
Additional Details
The internship is for Spring 2025 semester and it starts in January, 2025 and ends by end of May, 2025 Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester Must be available to travel domestically up to 25% of the time [remove it not applicable: and with the need for some overnight trips Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Hourly Range: $21.00 - $28.00 USD hourly
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
