Responsibilities:\n\nAssistance with collection and preserving samples for microbiology and chemistry analysis\nAssists with other chemical, physical or biological laboratory testing. \nPerforms harbor, river and bay sampling from a boat or van and related duties in support of the MWRA's monitoring programs.\nEnters data into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) \nPerforms related laboratory duties, calibrating field instruments and preparing materials for field sampling. (e.g. buffers\/quality control standards).\nRecords field and laboratory data on paper and in data logger. \nEnters data into a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)\nReports to a Laboratory Supervisor II \n\n

The preferred candidate will be at least a junior in a science or environmental major. The candidate should have some chemistry laboratory skills and have a general understanding of laboratory procedures. \n

Requirements:\n\nMust have a valid driver's license.\nAbility to perform careful laboratory manipulations.\nGood communication skills.\nCompetency in Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. \n\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:\n\nAssist with the measurement of in-situ water quality parameters (temperature, pH, total and free chlorine) \nAdhere to standard laboratory practices and safety requirements. \nPerform field water quality testing, as required.\nAssist in the collection of other water quality samples, as needed.\nPerform related duties as required. \n\n

Other Information:\n\nWork Location: MWRA, Deer Island, 190 Tafts Avenue, Winthrop, MA 02152\nWork Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00AM to 3:00PM.\nInternship Period: May - September\n\n
