Who We Are Looking For

The Project Development Intern will be part of the Clearway Development Team and will report to the Senior Director, Project Development. The Development Team is responsible for the development and execution of projects into the construction of Clearway Energy Group’s 10 GW solar, wind, and storage project pipeline. The team works closely with the Origination, Engineering, Project Finance, and Construction teams across the full project lifecycle from origination to commissioning and all associated activities required to bring projects to successful commercial operation.

This position is part of the 10-week Summer Internship Program at Clearway Energy Group beginning in June 2025.

We are looking for current juniors or rising seniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.

Throughout this summer internship program, you’ll get exposure to real projects and challenges while gaining first-hand professional experience. What You'll Be Doing

The Project Development Intern will primarily be responsible for:

Supporting integration of land agreements into land management software Support on lease record inputs in GIS from our 30 GW development pipeline. Track development milestones of complex large-scale renewable energy projects from initial project proposal and siting, through to permitting, design, interconnection, approval, contracting, financing, and handover to construction Support the development of alternative project development approaches that reduce exposure to permitting risks, optimize development schedules, or create additional project value Support in preparing data for import into our land management software. Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data from internal teams and determine how best to present this information using GIS software. Develop maps in ArcGIS Desktop for use in ArcGIS Online and printed formats. Support development of user interface for use by permitting and environmental teams in ArcGIS Online. Complete competitive analysis for projects in specific markets/areas Learn about project budgets and schedules

The Project Development Intern will be assigned an individual project and will present results to the project leadership at the end of the summer.

What You'll Bring Exposure to or interest in learning the ArcGIS Online web platform. Interest and fundamental knowledge of the renewable energy industry and US electricity infrastructure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Excel. Ability to work well in a collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives. What Would Be Nice Experience in the renewable energy industry, including full life-cycle development of utility-scale solar and/or wind projects. Exposure to Contracts/ Leases. Exposure to project schedules and project budgets. Some knowledge of governmental mandates, environmental regulations, or customer/market signals that impact or facilitate new development of renewable projects in major markets (CAISO, WECC, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE). Knowledge of various sources of publicly available spatial data that may contribute to analyzing prospective renewable sites.
