Intern: Business Control (Summer 2025)

Who we are

Our motivated and highly competent Business Control team identifies waste and loss in our end to end processes. Working closely together with other departments we support kaizen projects to improve operations and processes.  We evaluate capital investments, analyze current operations, evaluate various operating scenarios, interact with suppliers, provide valuable insight and work cross functionally to improve all aspects of operations within our large industrial facility.

We are a deliberately collaborative and close knit team working with other teams both inside and outside of LVO. We are part of the connected global team of business control professionals across the Volvo Group worldwide leveraging the best ideas and proven solutions. We challenge each other and strive for continuous improvement while maintaining a balance by working hard and having fun. We get stuff done. What you will do

You will be working with your team in Business Control to provide financial support to departments within the manufacturing business area.  Some of the types of activities that you may be involved in:

•    Experimenting with business intelligence, data management, visualization, AI application, statistics and accounting to provide new insight into operations
•    Assisting in the analysis, investigation, and research supporting the organization's financial planning and reporting
•    Preparing and analysing operating expenses, standard costs, project costs, and key performance indicators
•    Supporting the monthly closing process
•    Participating in studies and implementation of capital investments and cost reduction initiatives
•    Maintaining accurate fixed asset records
 

Who are you? You love manufacturing and the idea of working in the automotive industry. You are passionate about new technologies and digital tools. You are studying accounting, finance, economics or business with an interest in statistics, computer technology or computer programming and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies. You are naturally curious and creative and an excellent communicator. You are curious about lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. You have an interest in international business and working with high performing teams. In good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 Summer interns may work up to 40 hours per week. What’s in it for you?

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
