The internship/coop role allows students to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities with Volvo Trucks Sales & Marketing by working on important, innovative projects. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns/coops and our full-time professionals work together on projects within their selected organization. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a mutually beneficial manner to the student and Volvo Trucks Sales & Marketing.
 

What you will do

The purpose of this job is to support the Strategy & Governance team in activities related to our strategic ambitions and growth plan for Volvo Trucks in North America and drive reporting & analytics initiatives to support decision-making and to enhance process efficiency & performance. Additionally, you will be able to work with research data, analyze it for key insights, and then communicate your results. This role will be in a high-paced and high-energy environment that changes rapidly due to market conditions, customer needs, and company strategy.
For this position it is preferable for candidates to be on site for at least 4 days a week working up to 40 hours a week during the Summer 2025 semester. The specific working schedule will be agreed upon with the hiring manager. 

The summer internship dates are May 13 to August 9, 2025, with the possibility to be extended through Fall 2025. 
Daily/Weekly responsibilities:
•    Support deep-dive studies on focused areas. 
•    Handle large amounts of data from a variety of sources.
•    Analyze statistics and draw correlations. 
•    Perform customer feedback analysis and recommend areas to focus. 
•    Analyze options and features by volume, model, and differentiating factors based on market trends
•    Build reports and case studies for management utilizing business analytics techniques.
•    Benchmark competitive offering and marketing strategies, determine gaps, and build a roadmap to close gaps
•    Help update processes and workflows and support continuous improvement.
 

Who are you?

•    Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking
•    Comfortable to work with large amounts of data and to follow process routines
•    Detail oriented with strong problem solving/decision making skills
•    Strong PC skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Office suite of products; Excel, Access and Power BI/Qlik for visualization in particular
•    Practical knowledge of scripting languages (ideally Python, R or Scala) is a plus 
•    Understand principles of distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark, MPP) is a plus 
•    Able to write a SQL query with minimal guidance is a plus 
•    Excellent time management and prioritization skills
•    Highly organized, effective at managing multiple projects at once
•    High-energy and result-oriented. 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
•    Have a positive and customer-oriented mindset

Minimum Education Requirements & Qualifications:

​​​​•    Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Business and/or Marketing ( or related area of study) degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship. 
•    Interns may work up to 40 hours per week and must be enrolled as full-time student.
•    Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
