Intrinsic is Alphabet’s bet aiming to reimagine the potential of industrial robotics. Our team believes that advances in AI, perception and simulation will redefine what’s possible for industrial robotics in the near future – with software and data at the core.
Our mission is to make industrial robotics intelligent, accessible, and usable for millions more businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers. We are a dynamic team of engineers, roboticists, designers, and technologists who are passionate about unlocking the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics.
RoleAre you passionate about democratizing robotics and making cutting-edge technology accessible for all? We are seeking highly motivated and talented interns to join our dynamic team and contribute to the advancement of robotics in an exciting internship opportunity. In this role, you will help develop 3D digital twin software for intuitively visualizing the operations of a factory.
Users of the software should feel as though they are able to run a factory by playing a video game. Your contribution will be to design and implement interactive visual cues in the 3D world that convey what is happening to the user. Some of those cues may also present interaction opportunities for users to control what is happening in the factory operations. Examples may include initiating a new task, cancelling an ongoing task, or circumventing an operational error. You will develop 3D assets for these visual cues and program their logic using Rust and Bevy.
How your work moves the mission forward Contribute towards the development of robotics software (including our platform Flowstate) Collaborate with a team of experienced professionals in modern software development practices Participate in the creation of a desktop and web application that makes factory operations easy and intuitive Develop reusable software systems with significant long-term impact, including opportunities to contribute to open source software projects Pioneer the use of the Rust programming language and Bevy video game engine for high-reliability robotics and operations software Skills you will need to be successful Bachelor’s student in Computer Science or related field required (Master's students preferred) Knowledge and proficiency in modern software development languages, like C++ Proficiency in Rust is strongly recommended, but it is not required for candidates that are prepared to learn quickly Experience or interest in video game development or 3D visualization will be a significant advantage Ability to develop tools and intuitive user interfaces for diverse robot functionalities Familiarity with some aspects of the robotics domain such as motion and grasp planning, behavior trees, and perception Enthusiasm for solving challenging problems in full-stack software, artificial intelligence, and robotics Effective verbal and written communication skills for rapidly iterating on a solutionAt Intrinsic, we don't just accept difference - we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our products and our community. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status.
