Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they’re well looked after and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Technical Operations intern, you’ll have the opportunity to be placed in one of our many departments across our network – from Chicago to Houston, Orlando to San Francisco. Potential placements include, but are not limited to:

·Supply Chain Insights:is responsible for the execution of reporting for the United Airlines Supply Chain organization including inventory planning, vendor management, component and engine shops, warehousing, and logistics functions. Projects can include the development of new dashboards, periodical and ad-hoc reports and analysis, presentation deck developments, predictive analytics, automation and impact analysis.

·Aircraft Tooling Analytics:is responsible for the execution of reporting for the United Airlines Tooling organization including inventory forecasting, allocation and calibration planning, warehousing and logistics, and process improvement. Projects can include the development of new dashboards, periodical and ad-hoc reports and analysis, presentation deck developments, predictive analytics, automation and impact analysis.In addition, this role will work directly with the owner of a portfolio of existing dashboards, reports and presentation decks being used regularly by the Aircraft Tooling team.

·Engine Shop Analytics:is responsible for the execution of reporting for the United Airlines Supply Chain organization including inventory planning, vendor management, component and engine shops, warehousing, and logistics functions. Projects can include the development of new dashboards, periodical and ad-hoc reports and analysis, presentation deck developments, predictive analytics, automation and impact analysis.

·Engine Maintenance Management:is responsible for execution of assigned special projects, which will support management of aircraft engine maintenance. Also, responsible for development and management of assigned reports and, as necessary, on-going coordination between other teams within United (ex. Engineering, Inventory Management, Logistics, etc.).

·Purchase Order Supplier Management:is responsible for understanding and executing purchasing in accordance with company policy and procedures. Understands supplier performance related to on time delivery, exceptions, quality, and price changes. Corrects prices, ensures delivery, relays material sources to Procurement, and ensures quality of services for all tactical requirements of goods and services in support of the airline operation. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering charges. Responsible for maintaining process control of material and job activity with the objective of meeting expectations of the customer.

·Supply Chain Strategy:will contribute to strategic initiatives and project management efforts across Supply Chain. Projects will involve determining how to use data from variety of sources to proactively identify gaps within Supply Chain, and ultimately inform an approach to addressing those issues. In this role, you will engage with stakeholders across Supply Chain to effectively conduct analyses and drive problem-solving and innovation efforts

·Inventory Forecasting:supports spare part forecasting enhancements, including expendable and rotable components to support the Maintenance operations of United Airlines fleet. This role is part of the team accountable for identifying enhancement opportunities, improving spare parts forecasting, and streamlining the forecasting process. This position will work closely with data scientists to identify trends from parts usage data, transaction data, purchase order data, repair order data and operations data, and will provide suggestions to support the Supply Chain organization planning initiatives.

·Master Data: is a central support group for the aircraft maintenance supply chain at United Airlines. This role is part of the team that sets up and maintains the parts catalog and parts attributes that support Operations, Engineering, Vendor Management, Procurement, and Inventory Performance. This position will work closely with Procurement and Engineering to make improvements to interchangeable and alternate parts while identifying more efficient ways of analyzing data, looking for proactive ways to update documentation, and improving processes.

·Inventory Performance: supports provisioning and inventory planning of expendable parts and rotable parts for the Maintenance operations of United Airlines fleets. This includes planning of inventory investment and optimal inventory levels to adequately support maintenance needs. The role also supportsidentifying automation opportunities to enhance planning process.

·Logistics Services: provides Tech Ops supply chain enhanced operational support through various teams within the organization’s umbrella. Business functions range from enabling the enterprise to transact 3,300 daily material shipments, manage the supply chain portfolio of over 500 active engineering projects, on-site material management for aircraft maintenance, and adherence to warehouse safety and processes. This organization works closely with aircraft maintenance planning, engineering, AOG, inventory performance, global procurement, warehouse and distribution, and vendor management.
