Job Title: Intern – Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary: Our internship provides participants with hands-on, career-specific experience in the Mechanical industry. The intern will work directly with the project managers. In this position, interns will gain working experience with building engineering systems, bidding process, construction project management, financial aspects of construction and the importance of active communications to the overall success of the team, while actively contributing through day-to-day tasks.

The Assistant Project Manager Intern is responsible for assisting project managers in coordinating the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. Under the direction of the project manager, the assistant project manager intern is expected to take on any/all tasks in the quest to learn all they can about construction

Objectives:

Pull job numbers and set up job folders with most up to date documents Pull purchase orders and subcontracts once a project is awarded and buyout pricing is procured Create a change order log and track change orders Prepare, review and edit proposals, and bid forms Process permits as requested Process booking sheets Assist with small project estimating Request submittal data from vendors, ensure they meet specifications, and submit for review Create and manage a submittal log with lead time and procurement dates Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs and scheduling Communicate with customer/contractor during the project Attend job site meetings Collaborate with the Superintendent as well as other departments in the acquisition of tooling, materials, equipment, etc. to complete the project Develop project schedules in collaboration with the Superintendent and in compliance with customer requirements, deadlines, and/or milestones; develop mechanisms to track schedule progress in the field; and update the schedule regularly Run reports on projects, tracking cost and billing Prepare and distribute completed requests for proposals for subcontractors Review subcontractor proposals for completeness and scope coverage Identify sources for materials, parts and equipment Other project management responsibilities as delegated by the Project Manager Learn about job profitability, i.e. Margin, markup, costs, profit, loss Understand how to develop an estimate identifying all costs of labor, material, support, margin requirements and the design of a professional customer facing quote Makes decisions and acts with the Company’s long-term interest in mind Acts with integrity, maintaining the highest ethical standards

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in engineering, design, project management or related discipline Strong oral and written communication skills Self-motivated and results oriented Ability to solve problems Attention to detail Ability to work with team members, absorb information and apply information learned to work assignments Ability to organize and perform work activities with accuracy to meet deadlines, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to direct, prioritize and take initiative

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time position. Typical days/hours for this role are within the Business Hours of Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm. Travel is required to work sites
