We are seeking an Industrial Design Intern, ready to design outstanding branded, seamless experiences for Honeywell’s Industrial Automation business. You will work with other designers, and constructively partner across the business to advocate for design that enables user needs. Key Responsibilities
Support industrial design development and implementation for product categories.Develop and implement cohesive design strategies, incorporating research insights and business needs that span touchpoints across the life cycle of multiple products. Utilize Industrial Design principals to execute design projects within an agile development process. Be a champion for User Experience and demonstrate how your designs solve complex challenges in an industrial environment.Identify opportunities in the User Experience and propose solutions which add value to both the user and the customer. Develop an understanding of the Honeywell marketplace, competition, industry, methods, and relevant trends and apply those learnings to your designs.Carefully apply and contribute to the Honeywell brand design language.Stay on top of quickly evolving business objectives with a flexible mindset. Work closely with mechanical engineering in executing high level product experiences to meet the needs of our customers and users. Contribute toward a holistic end-to-end user experience approach that extends beyond the product and software use (e.g. purchase, maintenance, repair, etc). Attend meetings and maintain close connection with the business team and program management.Collaborate with other Industrial Design and User Experience team members on programs.Location: Fort Mill, SC
The hourly base range for this position is 23 – 27.50. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Industrial Design, 3D Design, or similar field. Entering your Junior or Senior year in an accredited Industrial Design (or similar) degree or certification.Must graduate December 2025 or later Must continue enrollment in degree program upon completion of the internship Validated academic excellence (3.0 GPA and higher) Reliable transportation to our office in Fort Mill, SC.WE VALUE:
Exceptional portfolio demonstrating innovative products, design thinking, and a user-centered focus.Strong sketching, ideation, and concept generation skills. Proficiency in industrial design digital creation tools; 3D-CAD (Alias, Rhino, Creo, SolidWorks) rendering (Keyshot), and Adobe CS Suite. Potential ability to work across multiple types of products and platforms.Appreciation of corporate branding and design language systems.Experience in creating low to high-fidelity prototypes and rapid prototyping.An attitude biased toward ownership, action, and pragmatic design tradeoffs.Excellent written and oral communication skills.
