As a DevOps/Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you'll participate in the whole software development life cycle. You will develop big data applications and services with high reliability and massive scale on top of Akamai's growing Linode Compute platform.
As a participant in our program, you will gain valuable experience and contribute through meaningful project work. You will have the opportunity to join us for training, networking events, and engagements with company leadership. Our internships are open to students and graduates.

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for
Participating in the design, development, improvement, operation, and automation of complex distributed systems Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and code development Contributing to internal research processes, methodologies, and approaches to create and share best practices Diagnosing system performance and reliability together with the team of Site Reliability Engineers Learning about our distributed systems, products, and technical stack necessary for your roleDo what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
Be a student/graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), or another related field Build on processes using script languages like Python or Bash Have knowledge of Web technologies Use GNU/Linux or Unix operating systems, its commands, services, and configuration Understand networking protocols (such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL)Work in a way that works for you
Our 6-month intern program starts in July. The program requires you to be 40 h/week during the summer months (July-September) with the ability to reduce the number of hours to 20-30 h/week during the academic year.
This is a flexible role and may be performed at your home and/or the local Akamai office (in the country advertised). We are happy to discuss working options in this role and encourage you to speak with your recruiter in more details when you apply.
