Your Opportunity 

Stantec is seeking an experienced project level environmental geologist/scientist/engineer to join our team of environmental professionals.  The position will support environmental site investigation and remediation projects across the Midwest. Primary responsibilities will be task management including field coordination and executing environmental site assessment, site remediation, environmental monitoring/ multimedia sampling, waste management, and due diligence efforts. The role requires experience with data evaluation, risk evaluation, and report preparation.  Responsibilities are anticipated to include but are not limited to the following:

Competently coordinate and oversee field work including drilling oversight, remediation activities oversight, excavation oversight, and documentation of field/data collection activities by self and others (RCRA experience a plus) Proficient in conducting and directing multi-media sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and soil gas) and air monitoring Technical aptitude to interpret laboratory analytical results, complete data analysis, Tier 1/2 risk assessments, develop figures with GIS staff, and coordination with database personnel. Task coordination for environmental assessment and remediation activities including subcontractor safety prequalification process and logistics with laboratories, equipment vendors, and subcontractors Prepare soil boring logs, well construction logs, potentiometric contour maps, geologic cross sections, and data tables /graphs Technical writing ability to prepare complex reports for submittal to clients and regulatory agencies including proposal development, work plan development, groundwater monitoring reports, assessment reports, Corrective Action plans, Corrective Action Completion Reports, and Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments Direct and mentor junior staff Performance of other duties as assigned

Travel will be required for leading investigation and remediation activities in the field.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

The successful candidate will possess the following: 

40-hour OSHA Hazwoper and Supervisor Training Strong commitment to safe work operations for self and others Willing and able to pass drug and alcohol tests and be included in random drug screening pool, background check, physical, valid driver's license and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy Strong communications skills Direct experience in environmental site assessment, remediation, environmental monitoring/sampling, waste management, and due diligence (RCRA experience a plus) Comfortable working independently with guidance, as needed Ability to recognize and adapt to changing conditions and priorities Analytical and problem-solving skills Self-starter with a can-do attitude Organized and proactive Team player Technical writing ability   Computer skills are a must. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PDF, (gInt experience is a plus) Education and Experience  A BS/MS Degree in Geology/ Environmental Science/Environmental Engineering or related discipline Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience  Must be a strong advocate for company and client’s health and safety programs. This is a growth-oriented position on a task management, project management, and professional licensure track. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Typical office environment includes working with computers and working at a desk for extended periods of time. Candidate must be willing and could travel and spend time working away from home or office. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
