Stantec’s Geotechnical practice is looking for a Geotechnical Intern for Summer 2025. As a Geotechnical Intern, you will assist engineers on a variety of tasks from field explorations to the design and construction management of complex geotechnical structures. You will get the opportunity to assist with analysis and design of geotechnical elements of structures including foundation components, dam and levee structures, and seismic remediation design. **Your Opportunity** As an Intern/Co-op, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to infrastructure projects which may include dams, levees, transportation structures, solid waste landfills, coal combustion residual (CCR) units, etc. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken civil engineering courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects. **Your Key Responsibilities** + Assist in planning and coordinating geotechnical explorations. + Assisting in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports + Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling, and evaluating project data, preparing reports, and performing calculations for design projects + Assist engineers with reviewing boring logs and laboratory data. + Assist engineers in executing geotechnical analysis and evaluation of geotechnical hazards, as it relates to design and construction phases of the project. + Gaining exposure and performing basic tasks in CAD and other design programs + Performing construction observations and assisting with geotechnical field work, as needed + Completing other engineering/administrative duties as required **Qualifications** **Your Capabilities and Credentials** + Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) + Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills + Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction + Willingness to learn **Education and Experience** + In progress toward earning a bachelor's degree (minimum) in civil engineering or related field + Specific coursework or exposure to one or more of the following: Planning, design, construction of infrastructure, and construction management, process/environmental engineering Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for an extended period. An office presence is expected to maximize learning during the intern period.
