Intern Packaging Design
Your role:
Some possible directions for the assignment are:
research plastic free glue solutions (material, application method, test method & specification)
Premium loose-fill packaging solution (define loose fill material & execution, define test and create an example).
Modular/flexible inside pack (solutions to not have to design a dedicated insert for all content variations of a packaging, including proof of concept)
home compostable packaging (different direction from paper-based, fully recyclable, which benefits could it bring? including proof of concept).
Deep dive study in protection of products with paper materials (think of tolerance & design guidelines of pulp trays, impact analysis, forces during impact and how to draw conclusions from that (more mechanical engineering than design).
You're the right fit if:
You are studying towards your Bachelor or Master in Industrial design or mechanical engineering, but we are also open for other bachelor or master educations.
Will require: creativity, a thorough, pro-active & innovative mindset
Requires affinity with packaging and with product development
Requires good communication skills & taking initiative.
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on educational level and if you would need to relocate to The Netherlands. If you will perform a part-time internship you will receive the allowance pro-rata.
Housing compensation, in case of relocating to the vicinity of the office, €300,- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255,- net for all other Philips locations. You need to provide a rental contract of the land lord, and your normal home-work travel distance need to be more than 50 km or travel time (one way trip) need to be more than 1.5 hours.
Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €192,- net
Paid holidays per internship term.
