The department is a critical part of the Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety (PSTS) organization in Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and is committed to the delivery of high-quality clinical candidates across all Therapeutic Area (TA) discovery teams. This internship will provide an opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student to participate in hands-on research in the pharmaceutical industry. Experimental approaches will include in vitro ADME assays focused on small molecules. The successful candidate will be familiar with a variety of basic laboratory techniques in a laboratory environment. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to learn about drug discovery and to contribute to improving the health of patients worldwide. **Responsibilities** + Designing and executing in vitro assays involving microphysiological systems (MPS) representing the blood brain barrier + Culturing of primary and / or immortalized cells + Performing LC-MS/MS method development, bioanalysis, and troubleshooting + Performing data analysis and reporting experimental results + Oral presentations of key scientific findings + Maintaining an electronic laboratory notebook **Qualifications** + Previous hands-on laboratory experience is required, preferably with handling cells + Computer program-based skills are required, which include Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint + Qualified candidates must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and have strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
