We have an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate Intern with strong software skills as a Modeling and Simulation Engineering intern to join our Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group located in Huntsville, AL.
General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general supervision, participates in the day-to-day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks.Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve problems.Assists in developing electronic and hard copy reports, records, diagrams and charts.Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.Applies basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems.Develop software and physics-based models to simulate various aerospace vehicles and subsystems to include missiles, projectiles, and satellites.Perform simulation-based analyses and communicate/present results to team members.Assist with the development, coding, and testing of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms.Perform data analysis tasks, such as analyzing flight test data, using standard tools such as MATLAB or Python.Support software and simulation configuration management/version control using tools such as Git and Bitbucket.Develop appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions. Communicates results to project engineering staff.Make a 15 minute technical presentation to company leaders summarizing the work performed during the internship period.Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.Performs other duties as assigned or required.We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
