Job Title: Intern in Statistics & Psychometrics
Contract: Fixed term contract (5 months)

Location: Athens, Greece; Lisbon, Portugal & Barcelona, Spain.

Overview

The Patient Centered Solutions (PCS) team leads the industry in breadth and depth of Clinical Outcomes Assessment (COA) and Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) knowledge. Our diverse team of experts works together to develop, execute, and validate psychometric instruments that capture the patient experience with their treatment or disease, analyze and interpret outcomes, and translate the information to advance the initiatives of life science companies.

What you will do

As an Intern within the PCS Statistics and Psychometrics team at IQVIA, you’ll be actively participating in the design, development, and delivery of scientific consulting projects or components of larger, complex projects and:

Upon discussion with your thesis supervisor (if applicable), you may be assigned a dissertation project with us based on a technical piece of work. You will be splitting your time between the dissertation project and supporting the team on other projects thus providing you with an opportunity to gain experience in a range of analytic techniquesPerform statistical and/or psychometric analysis on quality-of-life data collected in phase 2 and 3 clinical trials.Statistical analysis may include: linear mixed models, generalized linear models, dealing with missing data in repeatedly collected data, survival analysis, non-parametric inference, intensive longitudinal modelling, meta-analysis, simulation studies etc.Psychometric analysis may include: classic test theory, scoring validation or development, item response theory (IRT) methods, factor analysis, structural equation modelling, latent growth modelling, simulation studies etc.Familiarize yourself with all steps involved when receiving and analyzing clinical trial data that may support submissions for drug approval to major regulatory bodies, such as the FDA and EMA. You will learn how to write a formal statistical analysis plan, create associated table shells (mock tables), program the analyses in SAS/R/MPlus, write comprehensive reports, as well as present the findings in slide format. You may contribute to publication development for value communication.Produce materials and services relating to the PCS business areas that generate value for clients under general guidance from experienced team leadersHave the opportunity to liaise with clients directly and develop client communication & presentation skillsContribute to business development as well as internal initiatives for the advancement of innovative methodological approachesWork independently, at the same time closely, with a diverse range of peers, project managers and subject matter experts, both in the Athens office and offices across Europe and the US

Minimum required education

Candidates interested in joining the IQVIA PCS team as an Intern should:

Hold a BSc or equivalent in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, pharmacy, engineering or relevantBe studying for a MSc degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or relevant disciplineExperience with programming in SAS and/or R and familiarity with implementation of statistical design and analytic methodology.

Interest in consulting within the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industryBe capable of tackling loosely defined problems analytically, and applying pragmatic and logical problem-solving skillsStrong capability in juggling priorities so that deadlines are met while retaining consistently high-quality outcomesExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goalsAbility to explain complex topics in simple terms and in a structured way, both spoken and writtenFluency in English, spoken and written (working language is English)Eligibility to work in Greece, Portugal & Spain without visa sponsorshipAvailability for the 6 months internship from July to December
