Job Description
Hayward Engineering is a small team of engineers, driving the design, development, qualification, improvement, and support of processes and equipment for the high-volume manufacture of Otsuka’s novel ingestible sensor device. Our sensor manufacturing leverages elements of semiconductor, medical device, pharmaceutical, and web / roll-to-roll based continuous manufacturing. We are a data-driven and compliance-focused company pioneering its way in this newly emerging regulated market.
This position will support the exploration of next generation film materials for the ingestible sensors manufactured at the Hayward site. This position will primarily contribute to new material research & development, sample fabrication, film characterization, prototype development, test methods establishment and data analysis. The scope of internship will include hands-on sample preparation and testing, material candidate screening and product performance comparison to benchmark. You will be collaboratively working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, and Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Supply Chain departments. The internship will conclude with a final presentation to internal departments.
Qualifications
Minimum:
By Fall 2025 candidate must be considered an undergraduate (rising junior or rising senior) or graduate student Engineering major highly preferred (materials / chemical / biological / mechanical / manufacturing). Physical science major with hands-on lab research experience will also be considered. Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship.Can commit to full duration of internship program.Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
