The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia’s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.
The main office for DBHDD is located in downtown Atlanta.
Job Description
Job Title: Internal Auditor
Pay Grade: K
Job Summary:
Responsible for managing and organizing projects related compliance, financial, and operational audits; CCBHC standards, certification, pricing methodology, and performance monitoring reporting. The Internal Auditor will regularly interact with mid-to-senior level management and Tier-level providers to discuss issues and recommend improved business practices related to Internal Audit and Risk Management areas.
Range of Responsibility:
· Manage periodic monitoring and reporting requirements for annual audited financial reports, CSB quarterly board reports, and provider risk assessments.
· Identify and document provider risk exposures upon review of the contract terms and conditions.
· Identify and highlight critical high risk areas within dimensions of compliance which require immediate action to resolve.
· Promote and drive internal controls procedures across the agency.
· Manage or conduct performance, operational, financial or compliance audit projects
· Provide input to the development of the annual Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management plans
Job Responsibilities:
· Manage and develop internal audit objectives, plans and scope consistent with the agency's business objectives, the assessment of audit risk, client needs and compliance needs/priorities
· Communicate internal audit and compliance information such as results and conclusions in accordance with professional auditing standards and agency policies and procedures.
· Assist with building performance improvement and operational efficiency within the agency through internal audits and risk assessment functions
· Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with risk management, compliance monitoring, and project management.
• Considerable skills with Microsoft Office 365 including SharePoint, Project Management and Visio
• Experience with interpreting and implementing State and Federal Statutes and regulations.
• Ability to effectively communicate issues, findings, and recommendations both verbally and in writing to all levels of management.
• Proven experience in contributing to the establishment, review and continuous improvement of compliance frameworks, policies, practices and processes.
• Three years of full time experience in internal or compliance auditing, control self-assessment, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance or performance audit including the capacity of a supervisor or manager.
• Bachelor degree in business related fields or professional experience may be considered against up to three (3) years of related experience.

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional job-related experience; or five (5) years of professional job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Auditor/Examiner 2 (FIP031) or equivalent position.
