Internal Auditor II

General Summary

This position is responsible for assisting with and performing audits designed to evaluate the effectiveness of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) in order to meet Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements; assess the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes in order to increase profitability; and determine compliance with policies, procedures, laws and regulations in order to avoid regulatory penalties and reputational damage.

Essential Job Accountabilities

Perform financial, operational and compliance audits in order to complete the annual audit plan.

Prepare workpapers in accordance with applicable professional standards to support conclusions and to facilitate supervisory review.

Perform audit tests as assigned to complete audits in a timely manner.

Identify the root causes of control failures and recommend corrective actions so that controls will operate effectively and as intended.

Provide oral and written reports clearly summarizing the scope of work performed and the resultant findings so that management understands the findings and adopts the recommendations.

Accurately track time spent on each project at the level of detail required so that IA management can determine the personnel costs associated with each assignment.

Provide a weekly updated project list summarizing work performed, issues identified, progress on open items including required follow-ups, and future to-do’s, so that the IA Director can ensure timely completion of audit projects.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance required.

Work Experience

Three-plus years of experience in auditing or financial controls are required.

SOX experience is a plus.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to efficiently prioritize multiple tasks.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Sound judgment and above average academic and analytical skills.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work constructively as part of a team.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Additional Requirements/Skills

CPA or CIA certification a plus.

Moderate (extensive at times) travel required.

Base Salary Range: 

$68,842.00 - $103,263.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.  ​
