The actual hourly rate for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
Salary Range$23.00 - $25.00Target Openings4What Is the Opportunity?As part of our overall content strategy for employee engagement, we need to develop stories/profiles/recognitions to deliver on our strategy through a combination of research, relationship building and thoughtful writing. There is also a need for graphics development and help with a generative AI writing project, as well as preparations for communications related to the Innovation Jam.Supporting the Technology & Operations Communications team, the student will be responsible for internal research, interviewing, writing and editing copy for stories to be produced for our company’s intranet, internal emails and other various projects. There will be opportunities to write feature stories, employee profiles and business success stories. The student will also be asked to proofread documents and to check that they conform to AP Style and Travelers’ writing style. The student will help support communications plans for Technology & Operations initiatives and projects, such as the TravAI (generative AI) rollout and our annual Innovation Jam hackathon. There will also be an opportunity for graphics design and updates in our internal content management system.
The student can express their interests and take on different projects to align with those interests if time allows.
The student will gain skills in business writing, copy editing, feature writing, interviewing, communications planning, employee engagement, as well as learning in a fast-paced work environment with shifting priorities and demands. Strong organizational skills and writing experience are required.
This role can be performed hybrid (mix of in-office and remote working environment).
What Will You Do?Projects and Expectations
Writing and editing copy for our intranet, company email and digital signage around campuses.Researching topics and conducting interviews with employees to develop features and profiles.Providing recommendations for story development, updates to project documents and recommendations for visuals to support written content.Communications planning (and generating ideas in meetings).Web design and updates (if time allows) for our intranet.Graphics design for our new intranet platform.Specific projects:
Developing content for our main employee spotlight series: My Travelers Journey and In-Synch Award Nominees, based on a set of common themes and priorities.(possible) Customer Service Week: Help with brainstorming, communications planning and writing.Innovation Jam: Help with brainstorming, communications planning and writing ahead of the event (happening in September 2025). Could work on video testimonials as well.Assist collaborating on metrics reports to benefit the entire team and perhaps for the entire Corporate Communications function.Work on folder organization within Teams to help us effectively navigate our folder structure and find key resources like photos/resource documents.Manage a ‘submit a story’ campaign employees to share their stories on inside; the student willHelp drive an update to our internal video channel, including working with various colleagues on graphics enhancement, updated organization and playlists and a plan for socialization.Generative AI: Work with a group of communicators to develop content for employees related to using generative AI tools for communications purposes at Travelers.
