INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Responsible for executing our internal communications strategy supporting, disseminating and, developing communications materials across various internal channels, and working alongside our executive leadership and cross-functional teams to keep our employees and franchisees informed and inspired.


KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads internal employee and franchisee communications channels by creating communications materials to help build a strong company culture, drive employee engagement, and strengthen franchisee relationships through weekly newsletters, emails, PowerPoint presentations, webinars, meeting agendas and reports, SharePoint portal pages, and action plans.


Collaborates with executive leadership, cross-functional teams & corporate employees to ensure effective messaging, format, tone, delivery, and channels (newsletters, intranet, webinars, etc.) are used in alignment with internal best practices for culture/engagement initiatives and internal messaging.


Partners with IBC management to develop employee and franchise communications deliverables in alignment with the company's strategic business plan and priorities and drives accountability for 

proposed timelines and commitments.


Partners in the implementation of Jack franchisee and company employee communication initiatives, policies, and processes to ensure all stakeholders adhere to internal best practices.


Develops and maintains annual Enterprise Master Calendar to provide a holistic view of employee and franchise meetings, conferences, and events by partnering with cross-functional teams.


Leads virtual and in-person event planning, including monthly franchise events, and quarterly employee engagement events. Prepares documents, develops presentation deliverables, and assists with scheduling as necessary.


Implements communications plans and process changes to address identified gaps or emerging communication needs of employees and franchisees.


Adjusts plans and scope of various internal communications initiatives based on leadership or cross-functional partners’ input with limited to no management oversight.


Creates and manages annual budget for the Jack & Del Taco Culture Champions Team group and Leadership Advisory Committee (LAC) meetings.


Leads the Jack & Del Taco Culture Champions Team and employee-led events, both virtual and in-person.


Performs other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as required, assigned, or directed.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, Journalism, or related field.

Experience - 3-4 years of experience in corporate or employee communications, including writing communication materials and using various communication channels.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, using proper grammar and applying strong editing skills.


Ability to create internal communications plans and a range of content, including but not limited to executive communications, newsletters, all-hands meeting content.


Ability to take complex ideas and information and distill into simple messages and clear language that tells a compelling story.


Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.


Ability to communicate complex or emotional information to internal audiences in a clear, timely, and effective manner.


Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with people of diverse skills, levels, experience, and personalities.


Able to thrive in a collaborative environment but must be able to work independently and self-start.


Ability to multi-task successfully and effectively handle competing priorities, adjusting as needed.


A problem solver with a positive attitude, bringing creativity and new ideas to every challenge.


Must demonstrate a high level of professional integrity, confidentiality, and ethical behavior.


Proficient knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office 365, and applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint).


Ability to work in a fast-paced corporate environment.


Physical Requirements - Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone/video. Ability to operate a computer keyboard.

The range for this position is $60,000 - $84,000 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
