Internal Systems Manager

About the Role:

The Internal Systems Manager at Airship leads a team of System Administrators/Engineers responsible for designing, maintaining, and managing our internal IT infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and security. The team also maintains the “golden image” for our workstations across multiple platforms and produces internal documentation and standard operating procedures.

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on manager who can develop talent, deliver projects on schedule, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure internal systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with compliance standards. This role involves making strategic recommendations to help the organization achieve our business goals.


Key Responsibilities:
Systems Administration

Manage user accounts, access levels, and permissions while ensuring compliance with security protocols. Monitor and optimize system performance, addressing bottlenecks and performance issues. Implement and oversee system backups, disaster recovery plans, and infrastructure upgrades. Install, configure, and maintain internal hardware, software, and systems.

Network and Security Management

Manage network access controls and user authentication, and internal network infrastructure, including cloud based networks and firewalls.   Conduct vulnerability assessments, update security measures, and collaborate with the Security team to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Integration and Automation 

Oversee the integration of internal systems and SaaS tools to streamline business processes. Automate workflows and system management tasks using integration tools, APIs, and automation platforms.

Technical Support and Mentorship  

Provide advanced technical support for complex issues and escalate problems as needed. Train and mentor team members, ensuring up-to-date internal documentation, SOPs, and knowledge sharing.

Compliance and Process Improvement

Develop and enforce security configurations and best practices to meet industry standards and regulations. Continuously evaluate systems, identify gaps, and recommend improvements to align with organizational goals. Manage internal infrastructure improvement projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance standards.

Advisory and Collaboration

Advise on system design, architecture, optimization, automation, and disaster recovery planning. Collaborate with IT Helpdesk, Security, and Internal Tools teams to complete tasks, meet company goals, and ensure secure and efficient systems. Oversee IT projects, including system upgrades and new software implementations, ensuring they meet business requirements and deadlines.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience as an Internal Systems Manager, IT Manager, or similar role, with a strong background in system administration or engineering. Proven experience leading technical teams, mentoring staff, and fostering a collaborative team environment. In-depth knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and networks with hands-on experience in managing and optimizing them. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues effectively and efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and efficiency under deadlines. Knowledge of IT security best practices and protocols, ensuring that internal systems are secure, compliant, and aligned with industry standards. Knowledge of compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and best practices related to data security and user access.

Airship’s ‘Digital First’ approach to work means that for the majority of our roles, work can be performed remotely, either some or most of the time. Some roles may require that employees perform their work from a specific location to support business activities, and/or be within proximity to an Airship office location or customer or partner locations, while other roles can be performed 100% remotely. 

This position is fully remote and may require up to 10% travel based on business needs or as requested by your manager.

Compensation

Airship’s compensation is determined by a variety of factors including market data, business needs, and geography. Base pay is part of your total compensation package and is dependent on multiple factors, including: relevant skills, work experience, business priorities, market demands, and location. 

The starting base pay range for this position is: $156,000 - $176,000 USD per year. Some roles may also be eligible for commission, bonus, or other performance incentives.
