As an International Assignments Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for assisting in ensuring compliance in the area of International Assignee Payroll. Your primary focus will be on ensuring  governance, frameworks and collaboration are in place to deliver accurate and compliant payroll processing, maintaining payroll data integrity and coordination with internal teams and external vendors. 

This role requires a strong understanding of global mobility payroll regulations [including the impact of tax treaties and totalisation agreements], excellent leadership and organisational skills, a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to navigate complex payroll scenarios across different jurisdictions. 

Additionally, you will ensure the payroll compliance of our Mobility policies,  including the review and implementation of tax technical positions for assignment-related balance sheet components in countries.

This role works closely with the internal Mobility team within Roche to ensure compliance of internationally mobile employees and ensure data provided and reconciled with our external tax provider.

Your opportunity  

Create governance and frameworks to deliver international assignee payroll effectively across countries, teams, and vendors, ensuring roles, responsibilities, and handoffs clarity for all stakeholders.

Oversee and support end-to-end mobility payroll operations for multiple countries and regions in collaboration with local payroll teams, particularly when payroll output is provided by the Mobility team.

Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing with operations teams, ensuring tax and social security compliance for international assignees.

Stay updated with global payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements for each jurisdiction, and collaborate on implementing payroll system enhancements, upgrades, and integrations.

Conduct periodic payroll audits to ensure data accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve payroll-related issues.

Investigate and manage interactions with internal international assignees where issues arise and collaborate with P&C teams and external payroll service providers for seamless payroll delivery.

Coordinate and deliver payroll training programs to ensure awareness and understanding of payroll policies and procedures related to international assignees, and work with Mobility AOP and PTB AOP to refine and develop new processes to enhance data transfer and integrity.

Who you are

Proven experience as a multi-country payroll lead with a focus on managing international assignee payroll and working with international payroll service providers, managing relationships with external vendors.

Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and deep understanding of global payroll regulations, tax laws, compliance requirements, and data protection regulations, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in handling data.

Strong leadership skills to drive and collaborate across multiple teams, including internal teams, senior stakeholders, and external vendors.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing complex payroll scenarios across different jurisdictions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing payroll requirements across different countries and regions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with all stakeholders, and a continuous learning mindset to stay updated on global payroll regulations and best practices.
