Company Overview

Blackstone Europe Fund Management S.à r.l. (BEFM) is a private limited liability company (société à responsibilité limitée) notably subject to the Law of 10 August 1915 on commercial companies, as amended from time to time and to the AIFM Law. BEFM is authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) as (i) a management company under Article 101(2) (Chapter 15) of the Law of 17 December 2010 on undertakings for collective investment, as amended (the UCI Law) and (ii) an alternative investment fund manager in accordance with the Law of 12 July 2013 on alternative investment fund managers, as amended (the AIFM Law).

BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) in a variety of asset classes including private equity, real estate, credit and hedge fund solutions. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) with a combination of these asset classes.

Job Responsibilities

We are currently looking to hire an Associate for the BEFM Valuation team (BEFM Valuation), which is primarily responsible for the valuation of investments of the funds under BEFM management.

The role will be a key part of the Luxembourg Finance team, working closely with the other Finance teams globally, he/she will be responsible for the following areas, with an expertise focused on some fund strategies:

Valuation review

Reviewing the investment committee memo in the context of the first-time valuationReviewing the third-party valuation reportsReviewing the internal valuation materialLead discussions with Blackstone valuation teamsAssist in the due diligence of valuation teamsProduce investment valuation analysis at fund level and presentations to BEFM’s management teamAssigning and reviewing tasks assigned to the offshore consultants

Financial reporting

Reconciling investments portfolio with NAVUpdating Finance database with key indicators at NAV frequency

Governance and reporting to senior management

Participating to the new fund onboardings in the context of valuation mattersProposing improvements of the valuations and NAV processes, enhancement of procedures and processes as well as the use of offshore resources and technologyPreparing management information for the Management Committee meetings and BEFM & Fund Board MeetingsOther general administrative tasks.

Qualifications & Skills

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, with a sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.

Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar discipline (CFA or CAIA a plus)4-6 years of relevant financial services industry experience (including a prior experience in a Big 4 or similar) with good understanding of a wide range of valuation approaches (e.g. Income, Market)Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements in relation to AIFM and Luxembourg vehiclesAnalytical skills, intellectual curiosity and attention to detailHighly organized, accountability for deliveryProactive and entrepreneurial mindset, ability to suggest new efficient and innovative solutionsProficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint required.
