Job Summary
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing assistance to foreign visitors and travelers arriving in the Federal Inspections Station (FIS) of the International Airport. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. Exercises no supervision.
This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Work Hours
10:00 a.m. - 8:45 p.m., Saturday & Sunday (Subject to change based on flight schedules)
Essential Job Functions
+ Greets and directs arriving international passengers as they enter the Federal Inspections Station area of the airport.
+ Reviews federal forms as passengers deplane.
+ Provides interpretation services as needed between passengers and Federal Inspections Station officials.
+ Provides escort for designated travelers assisting them to Reception Room.
+ Provides information regarding airport facilities, ground transportation, tourist attractions and the City in general.
+ Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
+ One (1) year of college from an accredited college or university.
+ One (1) year of public contact experience.
+ Pass U.S. customs security clearance requirements.
+ Must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment upon employment.

+ Read - Write - Speak; Spanish, German

+ Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
+ Applicants selected for employment with the City of San Antonio in this position must receive satisfactory results from pre-employment drug testing and background checks. If required for the position, a physical, motor vehicle record evaluation, and additional background checks may be conducted.

+ Ability to be outgoing and friendly when greeting international visitors.
+ Ability to speak clearly and concisely when relaying directions or other information.
+ Ability to speak a designated foreign language.
+ Ability to establish and maintain good public relations with those in contact in the course of work.
+ Ability to deal with large groups of people on a regular basis.
