Respiratory Therapy: The Respiratory Department covers all units of the hospital including critical care, ED and all inpatient beds. Our department is comprised of a manager, one supervisor, three shifts leaders, and a mixture of CRT, RRT, and ACCS staff. Respiratory therapy is a fast-paced, high-demand department where employees must work as a team in order to ensure quality patient care. We have a family-oriented type environment with a mixture of seasoned long-term employees and newer employees. Most full-time employees are on a set schedule consisting of 8 or 12 hour shifts, there are some variable shift positions within the department as well. Position Summary: To provide support to staff related to assignments and project requests. To learn and understand process improvement methodologies and tools specific to Covenant Health along with proper usage. Observe, study, and analyze work areas to help develop recommendations aimed at improving efficiency, flow, etc. Recruiter: Kimberlin Woods || kwoods8@covhlth.com || 865-374-5403 Responsibilities + Work with staff to develop project charters and outline work required to complete requests from Covenant Health organizations. + Studies functional statements, organizational charts, and project information to determine functions and responsibilities of workers and work units to identify areas of duplication. + Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples through time study statistics to develop standards for labor utilization. + Performs departmental observation to learn and understand processes of that particular area along with evaluating the current workflows specific to the area. + Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchasing of equipment. + Documents procedures via text, charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate processes and additional related responsibilities as required. + Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. + Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill, and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED. Minimum Experience: No experience necessary. Proven ability to interact effectively with a variety of people. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of process improvement methodologies and tools. Exceptional organizational skills. Basic personal computer and word processing skills. Ability to work in teams.
