The role of Engineering Intern is intended to start in Summer 2025.

An internship is a temporary position within 3M. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment. This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year. 3M provides eligible interns with a housing and transportation stipend in accordance with current policy.
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
+ Assisting with performing experimentation and engineering studies.
+ Using statistical software to analyze data associated with engineering studies.
+ Assisting with generating ideas, designing, and implementing improvement projects in assigned areas.
+ Conducting observations of processes and employees to determine areas of opportunity.
+ Serving as a contributing team member for various improvement teams.
+ Conducting improvement projects as necessary to complete assignments.
+ Performing other duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
+ Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
+ Completed at minimum freshman year (2 semesters) by the start of the internship
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
+ Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
+ Previously completed an internship/co-op with 3M or another manufacturing company
+ Demonstrated communication skills - both verbal and written
+ Demonstrated leadership and coordination skills
+ Exhibits initiative and is proactive in problem-solving
+ Maintain confidential and restricted information
+ Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Products and Internet Explorer
+ Experience working with cross-functional teams
+ Previous work experience in a manufacturing setting
+ Knowledge of statistical software programs
+ Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
Work Location: Aberdeen, South Dakota
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
