With a clear focus on user needs, the ZEISS Innovation Hub @ KIT explores new technology and application fields, enabling the transformation of ideas into innovations. Here, students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and ZEISS employees meet at eye level and practice an open-innovation culture.

For our team of researchers and engineers, we seek bachelor or master students supporting us in both hardware and software development for medical robotics, computer-assisted interventions and surgical assistance functions.

Your Role

Develop and test concepts for medical robotics systems

Work in one or more of these fields: medical engineering, robotics, signal processing, machine learning, and computer vision

Get hands-on experience: Conduct and evaluate experiments in our medical robotics lab

Document and present your research results

Research existing solutions in the scientific and patent literature as well as in commercially available products

Work closely with international experts in robotics, sensor signal processing, modeling, and medical technology

Work with researchers and engineers in a collaborative environment at the newly built ZEISS Innovation Hub Karlsruhe, right on site of the KIT campus north

Your Profile

You are enrolled in a bachelor’s / master’s program in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics or comparable with excellent results

You have basic knowledge in robotics, modeling, and/or signal processing

You have programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, MATLAB, C++. Knowledge in ROS / ROS2 is a plus

Excellent organization, problem-solving, communication (English and/or German) and innovation skills

Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary teams
