ABOUT WOODLAND AND JOB CORPS CENTER

The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Electrical Wiring, Carpentry, Building Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging.  We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing students with employability training leading to full-time jobs, higher education or advanced training. Coordinates and manages Work-Based Learning program ensuring students are actively participating in on- and off-Center on-the-job training assignments to improve employability skill-set. Provides students with transportation services and participates in Career Transition Readiness/Grad-90 program.

 

Job Responsibilities

o Plan and coordinate all on and off-center work-based learning sites for students on center.
o Facilitate, new, local, and distant work-based learning sites for students to obtain necessary work experience.
o Log and track all work-based learning hours for students in the center information system.
o Establish a network of employers that consist of paid and unpaid sites.
o Work with career technical training instructors to ensure students are learning the necessary skills to maintain success on the WBL site.
o Attend appropriate meetings to ensure that consistent connections are being made with local employers and business to continue opportunities for students.
o Work closely with the business community liaison at community events to publish and promote the WBL program.
o Maintain tracking and accountability documents regarding all students who are enrolled in the WBL program.
o Assess student’s work skills, professional appearance, and communication skills before they are sent to a work site.
o Conduct work-based learning seminars with students and instructors to highlight the importance of the WBL sites and expectations of the site.
o Maintain records on each work site to include a memo of understanding and safety inspection.
o Solicit employer feedback for each student to include information on job preparedness and quality of center training.
o Maintain ongoing communications with work based learning providers, including periodic visits to work-sites with career training instructors. Evaluate work sites for compliance with career development goals.                                                                                                                                                                                     o Coordinate student scheduling, meals, and transportation; transport students to work sites if needed.
o Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and other center customers.
o Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
o Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
o Other duties as assigned.
