Position Purpose
This position provides patient care of a therapeutic technical nature, performing advanced therapeutic interventional endoscopy procedures that support and assist the work of the physician, RN and Endoscopy Team for the good of the patient. Responsible for the care of instrumentation before, during, and after endoscopy procedures.
Nature and Scope
This position is under the direct supervision of the R.N. and/or physician to assist in implementing and data gathering in the care of the patients undergoing interventional endoscopic procedures and performs other duties as assigned. Assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound procedures, ERCP, fine needle aspiration with slide preparation, biliary and pancreatic duct stents, esophageal stents, manometric procedures, esophageal dilations, specimen collection and other related procedures/duties.
This position performs all aspects of cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing instrumentation used during any endoscopic procedures.
This position serves a patient population of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
The position provides technical skills as a member of the interventional endoscopy team, communicating with supervisors, other staff, physicians, and anesthesiologist.
The demands on this position on very dynamic because of rapid changes in medical procedures, technical knowledge, instrumentation, equipment, policies, procedures, and because of physicians preferences in equipment, positioning, and supplies.
This position ensures equipment is working properly before procedures, cares for equipment after procedure, and is responsible for reporting equipment that is not working properly or is broken.
Flexible hours and overtime may be required. On-call may be required.
This position does provide patient care.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Documentation of Anatomy/Physiology class, microbiology class, and basic computer skills from an accredited institution required.
Experience:
1 year as an endoscopy technician preferred. Six months as an endoscopy technician performing ERCP required upon hire.
License(s):
None
Certification(s):
Current CPR certification by AHA standards required upon hire. SGNA Associates Program Certification and completion of Endoscopy Technician Skills & Equipment Checklist required within 6 months of hire.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
